Principal, Dr. Donna Snyder
Dr. Donna Snyder has held numerous positions in the field of education over the past 25 years. She began her professional career in Montgomery County, Maryland where she served as an elementary teacher, curriculum specialist, and elementary school principal. She led a Title I school which served 850 students, ranging in age from infants through 6th grade. While in Montgomery County, she also served as an adjunct professor at both Johns Hopkins University and Bowie State University. After relocating to Florida, she held the position of elementary supervisor in Hillsborough County, Florida, the 6th largest school system in the U.S. In that capacity, she was responsible for the instructional delivery of elementary curriculum for 14,000 students. After relocating to Northern Virginia, Dr. Snyder has enjoyed serving as the Title I Supervisor for Arlington Public Schools (APS). She has also served as the interim principal at Hoffman-Boston Elementary School. Prior to being appointed as the principal of Randolph Elementary School, Dr. Snyder served as the Director of Early Childhood and Elementary Education for APS.
Outside of public education, Dr. Snyder has also held leadership positions. She served for eight years as the Chief Education Officer who was responsible for designing, implementing and evaluating K-16 educational programs, high quality professional learning and program evaluation. In this capacity, she had direct oversight of educational programs for 45,000 students annually.
Dr. Snyder also was responsible for creating professional advisory boards and strategic partnerships with professional associations, universities, school systems and community agencies.Dr. Snyder has earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in school administration and curriculum development. She received her Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction from Virginia Tech. She has also earned the NAESP National Elementary Principal mentor certificate.
Dr. Snyder has presented at national and international conferences on topics related to assessment, instruction, leadership and school improvement. She also is a consultant to educational organizations related to school turnaround and district improvement.
